CATHOLIC CHARITIES
ADOPTION SERVICES
Catholic Charities of Louisville, Kentucky is a non-profit
agency which provides maternity and adoption counseling
to birth parents experiencing an unplanned pregnancy.
Open adoption is one of the many options from which
they may choose. Prospective adoptive parents must
be childless due to infertility or medical problems,
married for at least three years, and residents of
Kentucky.
SERVICES TO BIRTH PARENTS: Catholic
Charities provides supportive counseling to the birth
parents (and their families) to help them determine
what is best for them and their baby. For clients choosing
to parent, services are oriented towards preparing
them to meet the responsibilities of raising the child.
Birth parents choosing to place their baby for adoption
have the opportunity to choose the adoptive family
and the degree of openness they will have with the
family. Catholic Charities provides assistance in developing
the relationship. Legal and medical assistance is also
provided.
SERVICES TO ADOPTIVE PARENTS: Prospective adoptive
families are provided counseling and evaluation of
their readiness and motivation to adopt. An orientation
and seven week class help prepare the family for the
complexities of adoption and specifically open adoption.
Catholic Charities provides caring, professional
on-going counseling, mediation, support groups, recreational
and educational meetings for all members of the adoption
triad.
Catholic Charities can provide adoptive home studies
and post-placement supervision for families adopting
through another adoption agency. |
