Catholic Charities Pregnancy and Adoption Services
Catholic Charities Pregnancy and Adoption Services of Louisville, Kentucky is a non-profit agency which provides pregnancy and adoption counseling to birthparents experiencing an untimely pregnancy. Open adoption is one of the many options from which birthparents may choose. If adoption is not chosen, pregnancy counseling is provided for as long as requested. Prospective adoptive parents must be dealing with infertility, married at least three years, and residents of the Archdiocese.
Services to Birth Parents
We provide supportive counseling to the birthparents and their families, if requested, to help them determine what is best for them and their child. Birthparents choosing to place their baby for adoption have the opportunity to select the adoptive family and the degree of openness. We offer:

- Legal Assistance
- Resource Linkage
Services to Adoptive Parents
Prospective adoptive families are provided counseling and evaluation of their readiness and motivation to adopt. A nine-week training/workshop is provided to help prepare the family for the complexities of adoption and specifically open adoption. A home study is provided after the completion of training. The nine-week training covers the topics listed below:
- Genealogy/Family History
- Coping with Loss and Grief
- Parenting/Healthy Attachment and Bonding
- Legal Counseling
- Trans Ethnic Adoption
- Panel of Adoptive Parents and/or Birthparents
Catholic Charities Pregnancy and Adoption Services provides caring, professional on-going counseling, mediation, support groups, recreational and educational meetings for all members involved in the adoption process.
Mother Infant Care
For birthparents choosing to raise their child, services are oriented towards preparation for parenting. Services provided are pregnancy counseling, developing a birth plan, case management, cooking, budgeting, parenting, Infant CPR, awareness of violence in relationships, dangers of alcohol and drug use, etc.
